The online registrations for Indian Railways RRB Recruitment 2016 has started & will close on January 25.With 18,000 vacancies up for grabs, it is one of the largest hiring exercise by a govt organization in 2015.Applicants should fill their post preference for the 9 jobs that come under RRB NTPC CEN notification.So if you are looking on how to fill order of post preference, this should help you in taking a decison.

How Post Preferences Work?
The 9 posts to be filled through this railways recruitment are –
- Commercial Apprentice (CA),
- Traffic Apprentice (TA),
- Enquiry-Cum-Reservation Clerk (ECRC),
- Goods Guard,
- Senior Clerk cum Typist,
- Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist (JAA),
- Assistant Station Master (ASM),
- Traffc Assistant
- Senior Time Keeper

Since there are no interviews, candidates are to be chosen based on their written exam & other qualifying test scores only.Therefore a cutoff for each post is to be fixed by every railway board depending on their total vacancies.
For example,
Anil has applied for Allahabad RRB & his preference of post is ASM > TA > ECRC > GG > JAA > SC > STT > CA >TRA
Suppose, Allahabad RRB has fixed 70 as exam cutoff score for ASM post & Anil has secured 90 marks.
Case 1: Because Assistant Station Master was his #1 preference, Anil should now appear for the aptitude test.If he qualifies in it, he will be selected as ASM.
Case 2: If he does not posses the required cutoff for ASM, he would be considered for his #2 preference – Traffic Apprentice.
- If TA has cutoff of 80, Anil becomes eligible for it since he has already scored 90.
- As TA does not have any other test to qualify he gets selected for it if his score is among the top 69 candidates (allahabad has 69 TA openings).He can now proceed for document verification.
Case 3: Incase Anil couldnt get TA, he will be considered for ECRC (#3 preference) & so on.
So while filling the post preference options, you should also know the qualifying tests & medical conditions that are required for those positions.
RRB Railway Post Preferences
Jobs in Indian railways are open for both males & females.But there are some posts that could be demanding which may not suit all girls.Similarly all positions in this RRB railways NTPC recruitment require certain level of physical fitness especially eyesight.

Option 2: If you are willing to take up responsibility, accept risks & also earn good salary – the following preference table will be best suited.
As you can see, we have taken females at par with males.As there are many women station masters already in India, it is certainly possible for a female to handle the job.

Indian railways takes eye vision of applicants seriously.They are very particular that you cannot apply for certain posts if you dont posses the required eyesight standards.
ASM, TA, GG, T.Asst: Distance vision: 6/9, 6/9 without glasses.
Other posts: Distance vision should be 6/12, 6/18 with OR without glasses.
Near Vision for all positions: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 without glasses and must pass test for Colour, Binocular, Night Vision & Field of Vision.
The online application itself has a seperate field that asks you to choose whether you fulfil the eye vision conditions.
Incase you DONT HAVE the necessary vision, Dont worry.
Choose NO & it automatically removes ASM, TA, GG posts from the preference list.You can fill the order for remaining jobs only.

Candidates registering for ASM & Traffic Assistant posts should carry a certificate issued by an eye specialist for aptitude test, if selected (format given in the notification)
