Banking job has become the most sought after career destination of young graduates.But it seems banks are also finding it tough to wade through the huge competition & find the right person.Waiting lists are now being considered to fill resultant vacancies.With the slump in IT sector expected to continue for few more years, financial sector especially public sector banks have gained attention.
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is the body responsible for conducting common written exams, interviews & allotting successful candidates to PSB`s based on merit cum preferences.
Once the written test results are announced, 19 participating organizations convey their total number of vacancies to IBPS.This list is published on institute`s website for eligible candidates to submit their order of preferences based on which final allotments are completed.
Through the common recruitment platform 22400 officer jobs & 39000 clerk jobs were available for qualifiers of PO CWE & Clerical CWE. |
Banks are currently issuing appointment offers for these selected people advising them to complete joining formalities.
According to a report in ET, IBPS had shortlisted approximately 1.25 lakh candidates (PO + clerks) after common interviews.
If they choose not to take up the offer he/she wont be provided with another chance.Bank would intimate the next suitable candidate to join them.
Ever since the PSB`s started informing joining dates other qualifiers were eager to know about the possibility of waiting list/ 2nd lists/ additional vacancies etc.
IBPS has clarified on the common queries through a notice recently out up on their site here.According to it,
Lastly, the institute also mentions that they cannot give any guarantee on whether banks would issue more openings for further allotments.
So its going to be a guessing game for bank job aspirants who are awaiting job offers.
With IBPS revealing the possibility of conducting next set of allotments, all passouts will have these questions in mind,
“The 2nd list may contain around 10% of first allotments”, said IBPS chief according to a latest news item in Businessline.
Going by that atleast 2300 PO & 3100 clerical cadre jobs could feature in the new list.
