The past few weeks have been really taxing for numerous bank job aspirants after seeing IBPS PO CWE 2013 notification. They are now a happy lot on hearing those eligibility changes getting dropped. But this move shall create more competition for the upcoming PO common exams making the event more crowded than previous years.
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts common written examinations (CWE) on behalf of all public sector banks in India except SBI group. It is required to qualify to apply for PO or clerk vacancies in these banks.
Who are Eligible?
The Ministry of Finance under Govt. of India had informed all PSBs in 2012 to implement certain HR recommendations made by A.K.Khandelwal committee.
The most prominent among them were lowering agelimit, fixing a higher educational qualification, computer literacy etc.,The clauses were explained at BankExamsIndia.com as well last year.
These conditions introduced in 2013 clerical exams were also brought in for officer cadre too.But student associations across the country registered their protests against these new rules forcing authorities to drop them.
The modified eligibility conditions for IBPS PO CWE 2013 are:
- Age: 20 – 30 yrs as on July 1, 2013
- Pass in any degree. No need to posses 55% or 60% aggregate marks
- Certificate in computer knowledge/ operations is not required.
So these above rulings should open the doors for more registration even from clerk exam qualifiers (see PO common exam 2013 in detail)
12 Lakh+ Applications
There is an increasing demand for banking jobs in India especially during the last 2 years. As govt. owned banks are creating 20,000 PO jobs every year, young graduates are eager to join – pushing up the numbers.
With the strict entry norms now being relaxed we expect atleast 12 lakh individuals to apply for the PO examination, says IBPS director as per Livemint report. |
Being eligible is only the first step.To qualify and rise above the enormous competition & feature in the final merit list of 22000 matters most.(see common exams only once a year)
In short, the test for survival has just begun for all those who have applied for IBPS PO CWE 2013.
