Every year, Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts a common written examination (CWE) for PO vacancies in 20 public sector banks.The IBPS PO 2016 exam to fill 8800 officer vacancies is on October 16, 22 & 23.
Candidates who qualify in this test must score necessary cutoff marks to become eligible for further round of selections.
IBPS PO 2015 Prelims & Mains Cutoffs
For any competitive exam, there are certain cutoff marks to qualify for the next stage. This is primarily done to filter the huge competition among candidates.
From the year 2015, IBPS PO exam follows a two tier exam process which is divided into two stages – Preliminary exam & Main exam.
Only those who clear prelims with the required cutoffs are shortlisted for mains & then for interviews.
IBPS PO Prelims Cutoffs 2015:
After the preliminary exam is held, IBPS takes into account the performance of all candidates, total number of jobs & difficulty level of the paper to fix cutoffs for that year.
IBPS PO cutoffs are generally applied in two levels:
- on individual sections
- on the total score
In 2015, following were the cutoff marks of IBPS PO prelims exam

IBPS PO Mains Cutoffs 2015:

The formula used by IBPS to calculate total cutoff scores based on the above marks is:

Individuals who had scored above these cutoff marks were called for a common interview, which is the final stage of IBPS PO recruitment.

- General: 49.90 – 71.60
- OBC: 46.70 – 60.60
- SC: 41.40 – 57.00
- ST: 52.40 – 36.30
In 2015,12,615 vacancies were created in 20 public sector banks & hence these cutoffs were aimed to fill this shortfall.
But IBPS PO 2016 cutoffs could differ due to less number of vacancies & change in the exam pattern.
