The total number of scale I probationary officer jobs in 23 public sector banks for the year 2016–17 stands at 12,615 posts which is lower than previous year.

BankExamsIndia.com had correctly estimated the number of PO jobs in 2016 to be around 13000, while analyzing the IBPS PO expected cutoffs.

Few popular websites were citing a newspaper report & said that there will be 16,000 jobs which turned out be completely wrong.

  • Syndicate bank tops the chart with 2094 openings
  • Canara Bank & IDBI Bank occupy 2nd & 3rd place with 1750 and 1350 vacancies respectively.
  • No vacancies exisit in Bank of Baroda, Indian Overseas Bank & Bhartiya Mahila Bank

IBPS has also mentioning the maximum & minimum combined cutoff scores of candidates who were provisionally allotted.

The above scores are the combined total of CWE & interview (out of 100)

Wait List Created

There was a lot of speculation on whether waiting lists will continue to exist this year. But now IBPS has specified the cutoffs for reserve list as well & banks may call candidates from it incase the post created for this recruitment year remains vacant till March 31, 2017

Reserve list is nothing different than waiting list. The next set of allotments will be carried out from this list incase banks or any other participating organization announce further vacancies during April 2016 – March 2017

Further rounds of allotment may happen in the following scenarios:

  • If additional vacancies are created before March 2017
  • If a selected person chooses to reject the appointment offer
  • If an allotted candidate could not provide the required documents/ certificates asked by the bank, then his/ her offer would be cancelled.

There is no guarantee that all banks will come up further vacancies but it is highly possible just by looking at previous PO recruitments.

Are you in Reserve List?

Now its easy to find if you are in the waiting/ reserve list.Below is the minimum score that one should have secured if one hopes for a 2nd chance.

I am in reserve list. When will I get allotment?

The validity of reserve list is upto March 31, 2017.So if you fall within the given cutoff scores, you should wait till March 2017 to know about allotment status.

Will I get allotment surely?

The reserve list has been created with approximately 10% of the vacancies, which is 1200 posts. But there is no guarantee whether banks will make use of this list.
