The India Meteorological Department was established in the year 1875 by Government of India, and was entrusted with the responsibility of performing metrological observations, communication of weather forecast etc., for the entire country.
Scientific Assistant in India Meteorological Department, being a group B cadre non-ministerial post, the selection process is handled by Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
Scientific Assistant (Group B) – 1102 posts(all over India)
Candidates selected for this position are paid in level 6 of the pay matrix (Rs.9300-34800) plus grade pay of Rs.4200 in pre-revised scale.
The approximate salary for scientific assistant is Rs.33,000 – 36,000 / month(varies with post location)

To apply for SSC scientific assistant exam 2017, you need to satisfy the following conditions:
– Agelimit: not above 30 years as on August 4, 2017 (OBC: +3 yrs, SC/ST: +5 yrs)
– Must have scored 60% marks or 6.75 CGPA in Bachelor’s Degree in Science (with physics as one of the subject) / Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Computer Applications OR Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, as on August 4, 2017.
– Should have passed Std 12 in science group/ stream with physics and mathematics as core subjects.
– The degree/ diploma needs to be of 3 years duration, after 10+2 examinations.
All eligible applicants must appear for an online written exam from 20.11.2017 to 27.11.2017 that will have two papers – Paper I (objective type) & Paper II (science).
There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.Also, SSC may fix separate cutoff marks for each section which will be decided after the test.
Part – I and II will be conducted on the same day within the given duration of 2 hours.
Paper II will consist of questions from Physics, Computer science and IT, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
The application fee of Rs.100 must be paid through online mode only before August 4, 2017.You may also generate the payment challan & pay at any SBI branches.
All female candidates & all males/ females belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD/ Ex-servicemen need not pay application fees.
