SBI PO Mains Pattern
The main examination will be conducted for a total of 250 marks & consists of Objective test & Descriptive test.
Take a look at some of the important points that you need to note:
- Negative marks of 0.25 will be reduced for each wrong answer.
- Questions can be viewed in Hindi & English languages.
- Immediately after completing objective test, descriptive paper must be taken.
- Descriptive test should also be answered online by typing the answers on computer.
To qualify in this written exams, candidates have to pass in objective & descriptive tests by scoring certain minimum marks.
How to Prepare in 10 Days?
With the main exams scheduled to happen on July 26, there are only 10 days for yourself to get prepared.

# 4: Reasoning could be of higher level in main exam which means you need to allot more time in solving different types of such exercises.

Prepare for Descriptive Test: This 1 hour test shall have Letter writing & Essay question only.It carries 50 marks & you need to qualify in this test separately as well.The marks would then be added to your total score.
From this year onwards, candidates have to take the descriptive test on computer.
- Open a MS-Word document & start writing letters to make yourselves comfortable in typing.
- For essay writing, read an article from newspapers or online news websites & try typing them in your own words.
Since we only have limited time in hand, make sure to spend more time in preparations for the next 10 days.
How many will get selected?
State Bank of India had announced this recruitment to fill 2000 PO posts.So the biggest question for many would be – How many candidates will get selected for SBI PO interviews.
Here are some figures based on their notification,
- approx. 40,000 may have qualified in preliminary test (20 times of vacancies)
- 6000 – 7000 candidates will be shortlisted for group discussion & interviews.
SBI shall fix section-wise & total score cutoffs in such a way that they can arrive at this number.
