The RBI assistants recruitment 2017-18 notification released recently has invoked lot of interest among bank job aspirants.Reserve Bank of India is similar to State Bank of India as both these organizations carry high brand value & both of them conduct their own recruitment process.But first, to apply for these RBI jobs, you must know whether you are eligible or not.

RBI recently came out with 623 assistant vacancies for its offices throughout India.In the notification, qualifications & many rules for this recruitment were specified.

Question 1: Do I need IBPS exam scores for this assistants recruitment?

Answer: No.RBI conducts a separate examination as part of their selection process.So IBPS bank exam scores are not necessary.

Q 2: What is the age limit for applicants? Are there any relaxations?

A: Candidates should be between 20 – 28 years of age, as on October 1, 2017

  • OBC category, the maximum age is 31 yrs &
  • SC/ ST: 33 years

Persons with Disabilities (PWD) get an extension on maximum age by 10 yrs (GEN), 13 years (OBC) & 15 years (SC/ST)

Q 3: I am a widow/ divorced woman.Is there any special concession in age?

A: Women who are widows or divorced & have not re-married can apply for assistant jobs in RBI upto the age of 38 years (any category)

Q 4: I have 49.9% in degree.Am I eligible for RBI assistants recruitment?

A: No. Candidates should have scored atleast 50% (aggregate) as on Oct 1, 2017. Your marks in decimals must not be rounded off.

For applicants from SC/ST/PWD category, pass in degree is enough.No percentage condition exists for them.

Q 5: I am currently doing my final semester/ I am waiting for final yr results. Can I apply?

A: Final year/ semester students are not eligible.Only those who have completed their degree as on October 1, 2017 are eligible to apply.

Q 6: I only know to speak the local language of my state but don’t know to read or write.Can i still apply?

A: Candidates applying for vacancies in a particular state must know to read, write & speak the local language of that state.See the state-wise list of official languages for RBI assistants

Example: If you don’t know to speak, read or write Marathi, you are not eligible to apply for posts in Mumbai office.

Q 7: There are less/ no vacancies in my state.Can I apply for any other state?

A: Yes, you can apply for any office but you need to posses proficiency in the local language of that state you are registering for.

Q 8: What is the RBI assistants salary structure.Was it increased recently like other banks?

According to the notification, the salary for RBI assistants is approx Rs.32,528/ month which includes many allowances such as transport, house rent etc.,

The monthly take home salary could range between Rs.25 – 27,000/ month (may vary based on place of posting)

Since Reserve Bank of India follows a different pay structure compared to other banks, any salary increase for bank employees will not impact this organization.

Q 9: Can I apply for one state & appear for exam in another state?

A: It is not allowed.Candidates will need to sit for online test (preliminary as well as main) from a centre within the same state they have applied for.

For example, candidate applying to Chennai office can opt for a test center only from state of Tamilnadu.

Q 10: Are BE/ Btech/MBA/ MCA/ B.Sc graduates eligible?

A: Yes, all those who have completed a bachelor`s degree (any degree) are eligible for assistant jobs in RBI.

Therefore, graduates with BSc/ MSc/ BE/ BTech/ MBA/ MCA/ BCom/ MCom etc., degree are absolutely eligible to apply.
