The IBPS clerk main exam results were announced recently along with the news of provisional allotment.So all those who had qualified in IBPS Clerk V recruitment (prelims & mains) held in the year 2015 have now been allotted to various public sector banks across India.But candidates are in a state of confusion over what is next & whether there is any other selection test.
Earlier this year, Govt of India had advised IBPS not to conduct interviews for bank clerk jobs.So the institute had published the final results of its clerical recruitment based on main exam scores only.
A total of 24,600 clerk vacancies have been declared by various public banks for these qualified candidates.But they are few steps away from getting appointed as clerk.Read on to know what are those steps.
Clerk Job Allotted But not Confirmed – Why?
Till last year, there were common interviews for clerical cadre.During that process, their eligibility conditions such age, educational qualification etc., were checked through document verification.
Since no interviews were held, IBPS could not verify whether the individuals selected in exams this year fulfilled the necessary criteria to apply for clerk jobs in banks.Hence they have transferred this responsibility to the banks directly.
Public sector banks shall now examine the eligibility conditions of candidates allotted to their organization, before joining.Incase they find the person does not satisfy any of the prescribed eligibility conditions, their allotment WILL BE CANCELLED.
That is the reason why we mentioned that allotments may have been made but appointment as a clerk is not confirmed.
Eligibility Criteria for Clerk Appointment
Inorder to confirm your allotment, public sector banks will look for these important qualifications, that were already specified in ibps clerk notification.
Age: You must be within 20 – 28yrs of age (max age relaxation for OBC-3yrs, SC/ST-5 yrs, PWD-10 yrs,ExSM- upto 50 yrs) as on Aug 1, 2015.
Educational qualification: You must be a graduate (Pass in any degree) at the time of registering for this clerk recruitment which is August 1, 2015
Degree certificate or Final result marksheet to show that you completed degree on or before 1.08.2015 is necessary.Failure to provide proof will lead to disqualification.
Local language proficiency: You should know to read, write & speak the official language of the state for which you have been allotted.
This is an important condition because a bank clerk will need to speak to customers in their local language.

Banks may test the candidates by asking few questions & allowing them to answer in their local/ official language or read a newspaper article or even write a passage.
It is not known what method the officials are going to follow but they would be testing your language proficiency.
Computer Knowledge: This is a very important criterion to apply for clerk recruitment but most have not thought about it, i believe.
IBPS in their notification had mentioned that candidates should have studied computer science OR IT as one of the subjects in college or high school.
All those who did not study it as a subject must have a certificate or diploma or degree in computer operations or language.
At the time of document verification, officials may ask you to highlight the computer subject in your marksheet or produce a copy of computer certificate received from any training institute.
Once banks start announcing their joining dates, they would also provide information about the list of documents to bring for validation.
Candidates who couldn’t satisfy the above eligibility conditions shall get their allotment for appointment as clerk cancelled.
So if you have been allotted as clerk, make sure you know what documents are required at the time of joining the bank.
