Atleast 8000-10,000 vacancies are filled every year through SSC CGL exams. The selection process consists of two stages (Tier I & Tier II) and only those who qualify in both these tests shall be eligible for appointment.
Initially, the Tier I exam was supposed to be held on May 8 & 22nd but now it has been postponed for 3 months.
SSC is planning to change the entire selection process of CGL exams bringing more transparency & accountability. It could be the reason behind this shifting of exam dates.
The official notice about this postponement is available on ssc website, that can be download from their webpage here
SSC has been planning to implement online tests for CGL exams from last year.Even in the SSC CGL 2016 notification, they have specified about such a move subject to Govt of India`s approval.
But In March 2016, the SSC CPO written exams were cancelled after images of a leaked question paper were shared on Whatsapp & Facebook.
Although a re-exam has been scheduled in the month of June, this incident has brought bad reputation for the commission.
The combined graduate level exam is much bigger compared to others with large number of candidates expected to appear. So SSC wouldn’t want any malpractices to happen in CGL 2016.
When lakhs of candidates are preparing hard to clear the SSC CGL exams, it is necessary for the selection process to be fair & transparent.
