Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is conducting the CGL exam every year but the number of vacancies will be known only after the Tier I exam results are announced.

The government departments will be sending their list of openings individually which is the reason for delay in knowing the exact number of SSC CGL jobs.

For qualifiers of SSC CGL exam held in 2015, a total of 8624 jobs have been finalized & would be filled in this year.

    A whooping 7139 jobs were shared between these two depts itself of the total 8624 listings.

     

    The remaining 1485 openings were present in other central govt offices & organizations like Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of External Affairs, Railways, Central Secretariat Service, CBI etc.

     

     

    SSC CGL 2016 Vacancies

    I very well know that having seen the vacancy list for previous year, you would want to know about the SSC CGL 2016 vacancies.

    It is not possible to estimate the number of vacant positions to be filled through SSC CGL 2016 at this stage.

    But going by previous trends, here are certain things that we found:

     

    1) Inspector posts in CBEC & CBDT constitute a large part of the vacancies every year.Over 5600 inspector vacancies were filled by these departments in 2014.

     

     

    2) In Group C cadre, Tax Assistants (CBEC & CBDT) are the top posts in terms on the number of available jobs.You can expect atleast 1500+ people to be recruited.

     

    3) CAG has been the 2nd largest recruiter through SSC CGL.They have Accountant, Auditor & Divisional Accountant positions for which approximately 2000+ seats are announced regularly.

     

    Assistant Audit Officer vacancies: In SSC CGL 2016, the recruitment of Assistant Audit Officer for Indian Audit & Accounts department has been newly added.

     

    This dept comes under CAG & hence you can expect sizeable number of vacancies in the range of 300-500 to be declared.
