SSC Stenographers Recruitment Exam 2017 | 1500 Vacancies Expected

The latest SSC Stenographer grade C & D exam 2017 notification has been released by Staff Selection Commission.The examination is conducted every year as part of the recruitment to the posts of stenographers in central government offices.With the eligibility condition lower than other govt jobs, we can expect many graduates also to apply for these SSC steno exams.

The SSC stenographer grade C & D exam is being conducted every year for posts in the offices of Indian government.,It is similar to the SSC CGL exam with few differences in question paper sections & difficulty level.

Post – Vacancies – Payscale

The exact number of vacant positions will be known only after the results of these exams are out.But approximately 1000 – 1500 posts could be filled have provided the expected vacancies for stenos based on previous year trends.

1) Stenographer (group C) – approx 50 to 100 openings

2) Stenographer (group D) – approx 1000 vacancies

Post Location: Stenos (gr. C) would be posted in central government ministries/ departments located mostly in Delhi.As these employees come under the payscale of Rs.9300-34800, their salary is around Rs.35,000 /month.

Grade D stenos shall be posted in central govt offices /ministries located in other states across India.With a payscale of Rs.5200-20200, their monthly salary is approx Rs.25000.

Last date to submit online applications – July 17, 2017 (upto 5 pm)

Written examination to be conducted on – September 4 to 7, 2017

Who are Eligible?

To apply for SSC stenographer 2017 exam, you need to satisfy the following conditions,

  • Agelimit: 18 – 27 years as on August 1, 2017 (OBC: +3yrs, SC/ST: +5yrs)
  • Should have passed std.12th on or before 1.08.2017

Since the minimum educational qualification is set as pass in std.XII, candidates who have completed degree are also eligible to apply.

Selection Process

The procedure involves a written examination to be held in the month of September.All those who qualify in this exam shall be called for the skill test in stenography.

The written exam shall consist of the following sections.OMR sheets would be provided to answer as this is not an online test.

Skill Test: Candidates who secure the necessary cutoffs in the written examination would be invited for the skills test in stenography.

You will be required to hear a dictation for 10 minutes in english or hindi at a speed of 80 – 100 words per minute (wpm).This matter should be typed on the computer within 50 minutes (group D) or 40 minutes (group C)

The skill test can also be taken up in hindi language as well but such candidates must learn english stenography after appointment.

There will be no interviews for selection to these positions.So if you qualify in the skill test, appointment is confirmed.

Registration Steps

The application fee of Rs.100 must be paid through online mode only before June 3, 2017. Candidates can also generate the payment challan & pay at any SBI branches.

All female candidates and those belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD/ Ex-Servicemen are filly exempted from payment of fees.They are not required to pay the application amount.
